25th anniversary of Independence

    Independence is the greatest achievement for any nation. One fights and dies for it. The events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of RA continue in the City Central Library after A. Isahakyan. On September 20 a literary-musical event took place entitled “Armenia; the land of Sun” which was attended by veterans of Artsakh war, readers, students of primary school №2 after Khachatur Abovyan, students of Yerevan State Collage of Decorative Art lead by Varvara Galstyan. Ruzanna Barseghyan, the Deputy Director of the City Central Library after A. Isahakyan, congratulated the audience on the Independence Day. Novelist, writer and publicist Hovik Vardumyan noted: “Our dreams, aspirations and lament for losses are all summed up in this word- independence. Our ancestors have been dreaming about independence for centuries, have fought for it in a number of ways, but haven’t reached it. It continued till we realized that we should rely only on ourselves, we determined and reached our goals. Our dream came true. We deserve to be independent but we should also preserve it.” Composer, songwriter, director of “Haykazun” musical ensemble, participant of Artsakh war and Honored Worker of Culture of RA Gagik Haykazun mentioned: “An inspiration made us neglecting everything, stand up and win. I participated in the war not only physically but also through my songs. The patriotic song “Getashen” was written during those years.” Yelena Yerevan, accompanied by the audience performed minstrel Haykazun’s songs. Afterwards, many people shared their memories, among them the veteran of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia and “Van” operation commander Vazgen Sislyan, novelist, writer, publicist and translator Grigor Janikyan, state and public figure, writer, publicist, Artsakh war veteran, Colonel Eduard Khachikyan. According to the latter during Arstakh war we won not with weapons but with our spirit.
The festive spirit was lifted when actress Gayane Samvelyan read patriotic poems. The student of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas Hovhannes Karapetyan and the student of the primary school №2 after Kh. Abovyan Artyom Asmangulyan performed musical performances.
