Arevik Tserunian-“Lost Empire”

On April 29, 2016 the YCCL, in association with U.S. Alumni Association of Armenia, hosted the exhibition of young painter Arevik Tserunian’s works. The exhibition is headlined “The Lost Empire” and was held to commemorate the 101 years since Armenian Genocide. The exhibition is photo-presentation of a sculptural installation based on the fantasy novel written by the author. The objective was to recreate once existing powerful Armenian empire through the lens of art and metaphysics. Overall, the installation is a culmination of thousands of hours of accumulation and elaboration of sculptural forms. Currently, the sculptures are in the United States, and therefore the photo-exhibition is being presented.
The opening speech was made by the executive director of U.S. Alumni Association of Armenia Alexander Shagafian, who expressed his hope to see the actual sculptures in Armenia one day. The painter was greeted and congratulated by the deputy director of the YCCL Ruzanna Barseghyan, Honorary Painter of RA Martiros Badalyan and others. The final speech was made by Arevik herself, who spoke about the plot of her fantastic novel and answered some questions from the audience.
