Meeting Rouben Maroukhyan


    On March 11, 2016 the Yerevan City Central Library was full of guests, who came to meet director, Honorary Worker of Art Ruben Maroukhyan and to participate in the presentation of his book “Selection”. The opening speech was made by theater director, National Artist of the Republic of Armenia Yervand Ghazanchyan. Next up a speech was made by the president of the Writers’ Union of Armenia Edward Militonyan, who stated: “His book “The Adventures of Chikarelie” was publish in large print run. It was sold out immediately. Today it is read and passed around by a large number of young readers.” Other speeches were made by PhD of Philological Sciences Laura Muradian, literary critic, PhD of Philological Sciences Ludwig Karapetian, director, Honorary Worker of Art Ruben Babayan, writer, satirist, playwright Suren Mouradyan, writer, film critic, the president of Armenian National Film Academy, Chancellor of Yerevan State University of Film and Theatre Davit Mouradyan. The latter said in his speech: "Ruben Marukhian is, first of all, a writer due to his sense and perception of the world. He is one both through his fictional and theatrical activities. He is a poet, because, as it was said by Saroyan, they have a great understanding of the world, know the truth well enough but they seek something better. Ruben Maroukhyan is in constant search of something better and it has become a lifestyle, an atmosphere for him. He is a beloved figure in the Yerevan State University of Film and Theatre. So there is nothing surprising about the fact, that today among the audience members there are a number of students and graduates from that university. " The mood of the event was changed due to the performance of puppet theatre actors. Some of the works of the writer were recited by the Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Greta Mejlumyan, Artistic Speech Professor of the Yerevan State University of Film and Theatre, actress Zaruhi Nersisyan, actor of "Hamazgayin" Theatre Arman Navasardyan and actress, reciter, host of the event Gayane' Samvelyan. The last speech of the day was made by the man of the day-Ruben Maroukhyan himself.
