In 1920s he became a permanent resident in the United States and understood that in order to be Armenian and to stay Armenian one needs literature. Therefore, he created his literature having this viewpoint in his mind. By each short story he defined happiness and longing, showed the roads of reaching them. By each of his short stories the reader comes closer to the sensual world of writer; cheers, saddens and longs with him.” Lusine’ Arzoumanian recited in her speech the words of Aram Haykaz: “My literature is the story of my life”.
