Triple Holiday of Isahakian


    December 18, 2015 was marked with red on the calendare of the YCCL, as it was celebrating the 140th birthday anniversary of Avetiq Isahakian, the 80th anniversary of the library and the 60th anniversary of naming the library after the Master. The Master is a literary name given to Avetiq Isahakian by public as to one of exceptional values of international literature. “For me library has always been a second home, and in foreign countries, especially in Venice, it has been the first. The fact that the first public library in Yerevan is named after me is a great pleasure for me. I have always considered the book a sanctuary, the library- a sacred place. I’ll do my best to maintain the spirit of centuries-old Armenian literature. I wish you and your library long and prosperous life. Let it be everlasting like the book itself.” These are the words of the Master. The celebration was at “Arno Babajanian” music hall. Among the guests there were friends of the library, workers of culture, fans of Isahakyan, a number of readers and guests. A eulogy was sent to the library from the Major of Yerevan City -Taron Margarian, in which he said, “This library has achieved desirable results due to its modern work-style, its advanced approach and use of informational technologies.” Aram Sukiasian, the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan City, mention that the library and its readers have mutual positive attitude towards each other. Later he awarded the Deputy Director of the library Ruzanna Barseghyan for her substantial contribution to the sector of librarianship, with Gold Medal. Head of the Information and Bibliography Department Gayane’ Yedigarian and Head of the Catalogue Management Department Marine’ Grigorian were presented with diplomas for their substantial contribution to the sector of librarianship and efficient longtime activity. Another eulogy to the library was addressed by the Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosian. It said; “This library has become a perfect example of a public library, where a number of successful projects are brought to life.” Eulogy was read by Deputy Minister of Culture Nerses Ter- Vardanian, who added; “We are highlighting our spiritual values by highlighting the library.” He presented the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture to Deputy Director of the library Karine’ Mehrabian. Diplomas of the Ministery were presented to leading librarian of Recruitment and Processing Department Gayane’ Margaryan, Head of the Department of Fund Usage Larisa Shahverdian, Head of the 28th library-brunch Gayane’ Aleksanian. During the last 20 years the director of the YCCL has been Honorary Worker of Culture Hasmik Karapetian. After expressing her gratitude and speaking about the importance of the day, Mrs. Karapetian informed that by the decision of library’s scientific board and financial support of Yerevan Municipality a commemorative medal “Avetiq Isahakian” was made to award people and organizations who have had a substantial contribution to the sector of Librarianship and outstanding service. "Let me tell you a secret: "Avetiq Isahakian" medal number 001 is ready and it will be presented to Yerevan City Mayor Taron Margarian." Congratulatory speeches were made by the US Embassy spokesman John Goshert , Honorary Worker of Science of RA Henrik Hovhannisian, Head of Gyumri Municipality Department of Culture and others. The Deputy Director of Armenian National Library Haykanoush Khazarian presented the Director of the library Hasmik Karapetian and the Head of the Reading Hall Department of Central Library Klavdia Nalbandian with the highest award of National Library - medal "Hakob Meghapart." The guests had a chance to listen to some of the poems by Avetiq Isahakian recited by actresses Arsine' Navasardian and Gayane' Samvelian. Beautiful musical numbers based on the Master's works were performed by solo singer of Tatoul Altounian song and dance Honorary ensemble of RA Edgar Khachatryan accompanied by ensemble of national music instruments, solo singer of Armenian National Opera Theater after A. Spendiarian, Honorary Artist of RA Magda Mkrtchian and student of Armenian National Conservatory after Komitas Artak Stepanian accompanied by pianist Levon Haroutounian. The library has received a number of congratulations, which prove that many projects carried by the library raise and develop our national cultural heritage, stimulate creative potential of a person and public, and integrate it to the international culture.
"... The heart feels; the song tells the world what heart has felt. That's what the poetry is and nothing else...poetry is feeling." These are the words of Avetiq Isahakian.
The hosts of the ceremony were actor, Honorary Artist of RA Artour Karapetian and actress Satenik Hakhnazarian.
