The Discussion of the Program ELGRAD


   On November 18, 2014 a discussion devoted to the library functions management program ELGRAD took place in the Yerevan City Central Library. Due to this program the readers can order and read book online, as well as to find out in which library they can find the book they need. The program is very useful for the librarians too as it has simplified the library management process. The participants of the discussion were the Deputy Minister of Culture of Armenian Republic Nerses Ter- Vardanyan, The Director of Armenian National Library, The Director of Children's National Library after Khnko-Aper Ruzanna Tonoyan, The Head of the Cultural Legacy and Folk Crafts Bureau Armenak Sargsyan, the chief specialist of the Cultural Legacy and Folk Crafts Bureau Nazik Hovasapian, the Deputy Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship National Committee of Ministry of Economy of Armenian Republic Levon Gharibian, the Deputy Director of YCRDI CJSC, academician Arman Quchukyan as well as representatives of Regional and Community Libraries. The discussion was opened by the Director of Yerevan City Central Library, Honorary worker of Culture of Armenia Hasmik Karapetian, who mentioned that the program was created by YCRDI CJSC and was tested in YCCL from 2013. The operator of YCCL's Department of Automotization and Digitalization Lilit Shahbazian demonstrated and explained how the program works. Using this program the readers who are registered in any library of Armenian can get the information they need with the help of online catalogs program called ALEF. The users of the program are as well provided with online book. They can read it page by page or choose and read the necessary page at once. After the program was presented to the audience a heated discussion started and the questions were answered by the Deputy Director of YCRDI CJSC, academician Arman Quchukyan and the worker of the same institute Khachik Sharoyan. Mr. Nerses Ter- Vardanyan suggested that another discussion should be organized in the near future in which all the large and small libraries of Armenian should take part.
