Presentation of the Book “Twenties and Twenty Thousands”

On August 7, 2015 in the framework of the program devoted to the 100th Centennial of Armenian Genocide the presentation of the book “Twenties and Twenty Thousands” by writer, public speaker, translator Grigor Janikyan took place at the YCCL. The guests of the event were artists, writers, freedom fighters and representatives of the Hnchakian party from Beirut. The honorary guests were greeted by the director of the YCCL Hasmik Karapetyan. According to already established tradition, the book was anointed with wine by the writer himself and Ani Yepremian - the editor of the newspaper “Ararat ” published in Beirut. Congratulatory speeches were made by the secretary of the Armenian Writers Association, candidate of philological sciences Petros Demirchian, who spoke about the content, the literary value of the book and about the importance of presenting the historical facts in the literary form. Another speech was made by the former member of the Lebanon Parliament, historian Yeghia Jerejian. He appraised the book by mentioning that it is the story of Armenian Modern History and Mr. Janikyan stays true to his patriotic –military genre, to his documentary style, in which all the characters and names are real and without literary generalization. Kind words of congratulation were expressed by the President of the Armenian Journalists Association Astghik Gevorgian, freedom fighter, Deputy Commander, historian Hakob Aslanyan. Some extracts from the book were presented by actress, host of the event Gayane' Samvelian. The last speech of the event was made by Mr. Janikyan himself, who thanked the guests and the library for warm welcome and agreeable atmosphere provided by each and every of them.
