Book Presentation: “Armenian Literature in America” and “Trails of Life”


    On May 21, 2014 the guest of the YCCL was Armenian American writer, translator, publisher, bibliographer, public speaker Hovsep Nalbandian. The old friend of the library was presenting his two new books: “Armenian Literature in America” and “Trails of Life”. The first book is the bibliography of Armenian-American books published from 1857 to 2015 in chronological order. The second book includes some of the author's 200 essays. Some of the essays contain unknown materials about life and works of famous Armenian writers and political figures. Speeches were made by the president of the Armenian Writers Association, writer Edward Militonian, literary critic, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Honorary Worker of Science Suren Mouradian, literary critic, Doctor of Philological Sciences Margarita Khachatryan, Deputy Minister of Diaspora, literary critic Serge Srapionyan, writer, translator, Armenian Writers' Assosiation member Arevshat Avagyan, pedagogue, fellow studient of Hovsep Nalbandian Marine' Galstian. Another speech was made by the YCCL CNCO director, Honorary Worker of Culture Hasmik Karapetian, who congratulated teh author and presented him with the “Friend of Library” Diploma for enrichment of the library's book found. Beautiful poems were recited by the host of the event, actress Gayane' Samvelyan, Canadian-Armenian social worker, journalist Maro Margaryan and pedagogue Tiruhi Margaryan-Karapetyan. The audience has the opportunity to listen to Honorary Worker of Art of Armenian Repubic, Yerevan Opera and Ballet Soloist, soprano Magda Mkrtchian and singer, songwriter Arsen Hambaryan. The last speech of the event was made by Hovsep Nalbandian, who thanked everyone for their love and support.
