“The Commemoration of the 115th Birthday Anniversary of Aram Haykaz”


    On March 9, 2015 in the frame of the program “Ahead to the 100th Anniversary of Armenian Genocide” the YCCL celebrated the 115th birthday anniversary of Shanpin-Garahisar battle soldier, witness of Armenian Genocide, writer Aram Haykaz. Speeches were made by literary critic, aspirant of Philological Sciences, the director of “Hayastan” publishing house Vahagn Sargsyan, historian, the editor of the book “Aram Haykaz: Forgotten Pages” Gevorg Yazjyan. The director of the YCCL CNCO, Honorary Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Karapetyan conveyed the message of publicist and writer Hrachya Matevosian (Hracho) to the editor and note writer of the book, Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University professor Margarita Khachatryan. This was followed by the speeches of aspirant of Philological Sciences Naira Balayan, literary critic, translator, teacher, social worker Margar Sharabkhanyan, literary critic, Doctor of Philological Sciences freedom fighter Vardan Devrikyan, reader Yelena Davtyan and other. The last speech of the event was made by Margarita Khachatryan. She stated that since the day she got acquainted with Aram Haykaz, she made it her duty to introduce him to the large audience as he can give important lessons to the public. At the end of the event the book was distributed to the attendants and they all were invited to take part in the presentation-discussion which will take place in April.
