“The land is a living creature. It has a soul. And without a native land, without close ties with motherland, no artist can exist…”. These are the words of great artist Martiros Saryan. The great painter is 140 years old. He lived his life by creating, and would always be known as a “wizard of color”- true to his own self and his own rules of living and creating. To honor the artist and his legacy, the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan hosted the presentation of the book “Memories about Saryan”. The host of the event was Gayane Samvelyan. They confirmed that during his time Saryan lived with his people and walked next to him. His paintings radiate with “Saryan” philosophy, something that has been proven by his life: the tragedy of a nation, the death are concurred only by bright colors of life, light, immortal, essential sun… a true victory against death, an invention and remedy by Saryan’s genius to inspire to survive and to live.
