June 1 started with children’s songs, cartoons, balloons, festive mood and laughter in the City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan. Many surprises were awaiting children. The series of “Guest of the fairytale”, “Wonderful Nature” and “Jubilee writers of the year” books were presented to our young readers. The kids also took part in a chalk drawing competition entitled “My favorite fairytale hero”.
The opening speech was delivered by actress Gayane Samvelyan who presented Yerevan City Mayor Taron Margaryan’s address on Children’s Day.
After the chalk drawing kids hurried to the library hall where they met poetess Satenik Ghazaryan, writer and mime artist Naira Yedigaryan and poet, writer, musician and journalist Ara Aloyan who presented them his book “The cat that wanted to become a composer”. Vahagn Tulbenjyan and Janna Matevosyan from “Isahakyan” troupe read parts from the book.
Writer, TV journalist and public figure Vrej Sarughanyan greeted the children. Naira Yedigaryan told “My grandma Tamtimaria” story and organized the “Travel through the world of imagination” mime performance involving all the kids. Later the authors presented kids with illustrated books.
On the second half of the day the library staff, together with Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Suqiasyan and the Head of the Department of “Family, women and children’s rights protection” Of Yerevan Municipality Ida Khachatryan hosted the children of “Havat” Deaf Children’s Mothers Union.
The Director of City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan and Honored worker of the culture of RA Hasmik Karapetyan, IRC Director Nerses Hayrapetyan and Yerevan Deputy Mayor Aram Suqiasyan greeted the kids and officer in U.S. Embassy in Armenia Tiffany Simms read the short story “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein and actress Gayane Samvelyan read it in Armenian. At the end of the event all the kids got presents from Yerevan Municipality.
